How To Use Psychic Intelligence, The Power Of Observation, Abductive Reasoning, Inference, and Behavioral Science in building genuine relationships

Genuine relationships are highest amongst our values, along with freedom, justice, and the pursuit of happiness. The desire to be loved, "to belong," and to build lasting connections is fundamental in our psychic design and can lead to the most praised of the human experience, finding your soulmate, or to the most abhorrent, abandonment and betrayal. Every social aspect is affected by one's ability to build sustainable and trustworthy relationships. Politicians need to be liked, salesmen need to be trusted, marketers need to be relatable, businesses need to establish rapport with clients, and that would be impossible if we don't know how to read people.

Some people can recognize and handle interpersonal relationships, judiciously, and empathetically. But even if you can infer the feeling a person is experiencing, you still won't know why this person is feeling this way. Emotional intelligence can not and does not disclose more about a person besides how they feel in this one situation or moment. also, being emotionally intelligent is only helpful where you are face to face with someone.

Another way to find if someone is a friend or a foe is to intuit how they feel. We are all somewhat intuitive, but the degree and the accuracy of intuitive insight are strictly subjective, and thus unreliable. Few people can discriminate between their own emotions and the emotions of others. Besides, there is no way to fact-check your findings unless the other person willingly discloses their thoughts and feelings.

In a post-Covid world where virtual connections replaced personal interactions, it is increasingly difficult to build trust and genuine relationships and, thus it is imperative to safeguard against deception, betrayal, abuse. You don't have to meet someone face to face in order to read them. You can use information you already have about them. â€‹

Pamela Mayer, who presented "How to spot a liar" in July of 2011 at TED Global spoke about how important is to go from lie-spotting to truth-seeking and ultimately to trust-building. Mayer says that the core proposition that lying is a cooperative act, where one person is lying and the other person is willing to believe the lie. Let's not forget that there is also self-deception. Are you surprised by the implication that you are somehow responsible for being a victim of deception? According to Mayer, not all lies are harmful, and we willingly participate in deception for the sake of social dignity, to keep secrets, to make someone feels good or better. But yet at other times, we are manipulated to believe a lie. However, it would be nice to be given the option, or the leverage to chose if you want to participate.

Reading people is not only about determining if they are trustworthy or not. Reading people helps you find out more about them, their choices, preferences, actions, reactions, behaviors, upbringing, and history. You will gain a deeper appreciation of human nature and the human condition and ascend above ignorance, judgment, and discrimination in your interactions with others. When one knows what drives people's actions and behaviors, judgment is replaced by empathy,  therefore, one inevitably arrives at grace without which inner peace,  respect, and appreciation of others are not possible.

Multiple factors affect our ability to read people. The misinterpret assumption based on social cues known as an unconscious bias example is one such reason for example that has attracts a lot of publicity and scrutiny because it affects the very fabric of our society. Inability to read non-verbal language is yet another.

Nonverbal language is the first language we learn. The mirror neurons in our brain have a particular task to record facial expressions, body language, and the actions of others in an attempt to decode the context of behavior. A six months old baby does not understand the concept of love intellectually but smiles back at her mother, mirroring the mother's facial expression. Later, that smile, the facial expression, and the tone of voice of the mother when she says, "I love you" to her child will be associated with the concept of love. So to know what feels like love to a person, you need to know what he or she recognized as love.

Microexpressions flash across your face in less than half a second, but that's enough time for an emotionally intelligent person to realize things are not what they seem. Nonverbal communication dramatically affects people's perceptions and impacts every human interaction. Whether we aware or not, we all react to verbal and nonverbal messages. But just because we're unaware of it, it doesn't mean others haven't picked on it.
